Dominic Hecker, a dishwasher at Four Points Newark, was hired in July 2018... he also happens to be hearing impaired.  His mother approached Alexandrea Spaulding, General Manager, and shared the story that her son was denied several jobs and she wished someone would give him a chance!  Which is exactly what our team at Four Points Newark did!

Although Dominic was hired a dishwasher, he demonstrated an eagerness to learn and a willingness to step up when the team needed help.  Their cook, Thomas Mosley, started teaching him how to cook items from their menu and Dominic has really enjoyed it. He expressed a genuine desire to be a chef one day!

Dominic has been working in basic polo shirts, so the team decided to do something special for him.  Their Food and Beverage Supervisor, Tonya, came up with a great surprise for Dominic to recognize his efforts…his very own chef’s coat!

The Housekeeping Manager, Latrice, put Dominic's name on it and under his name "I speak American Sign Language".  Thomas hid the coat in one of the chafing dishes to surprise his fellow co-worker.  Dominic was very happy and touched.  To put his coat to use, they created a simple order form where guests can just check off what they want and Dominic was able to prepare the meal at their pasta station for Pasta Night!

We are all very proud of Dominic and thankful for the opportunity Four Points Newark has presented him with!
