The Florida team had the opportunity to be a part of a community outreach event at Rethreaded in Jacksonville, FL.  Rethreaded is a local organization dedicated to combating human trafficking locally and globally by supporting victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.  The retail center assists by employing survivors and teaching them business skills like production, inventory, sales, marketing and finance.  Recently, Southwest Airlines donated a pallet of their leather seats.  During the event, they were responsible for taking the seats apart, thread by thread.  The leather is upcycled, dyed and redesigned to make bags, wallets, bracelets and other small accessories, which are then sold in the retail center. 50% of the sale proceeds go back to fund the center and survivors.
